GPSS Election 2025-26 Preliminary Results Update

As votes continue to come in, preliminary results for the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) elections 2025-2026 at West Virginia University provide early insights into tight contests and clear leads across various positions.

In the highly competitive race for President, Md Hadisur currently leads Kallie with a narrow margin, holding 51.9% of the votes against Kallie’s 48.1%, translating to just a 6-vote difference.

The Vice-Presidential contest showcases a more diversified competition, with Shihab currently out in front securing 34.6% of the vote. Trailing behind in second place, Uthman holds 22.4%, marking a significant gap of 26 votes from the leader. Amarachi is close behind with 17.9%, followed by Kallie at 13.5%, and Sagar at 11.5%.

The Secretary position shows another tight race, as Silpa leads slightly with 38.5%, closely followed by Shihab at 37.8%, creating a razor-thin margin of just 1 vote between the two. Mahatab Bin trails behind with 23.7%.

For the role of SGA Liaison, Amarachi holds a comfortable lead with 53.8%, significantly ahead of Silpa with 28.2%, marking a lead of 40 votes. Jake is currently third with 17.9%.

The Treasurer race indicates Mahatab Bin ahead with 42.9%, giving him a 20-vote advantage over Silpa (30.1%) and Sagar (26.9%) closely following behind.

In the Senator (Statler College) category, Rumana is leading confidently with 45.5%, which is a comfortable 9-vote margin over Uthman’s 39.7%. Sagar (10.3%) and Aman (4.5%) follow further back.

Additionally, single-candidate senator positions have clear indications of support:

  • Senator Creative Arts: Jake secured 111 votes
  • Senator College of Law: Geffen with 112 votes
  • Senator Davis College: Silpa with 118 votes
  • Senator Eberly College: Amarachi with 123 votes
  • Senator School of Medicine: Kallie with 117 votes
  • Senator School of Pharmacy: Kneisha with 120 votes

Voting remains open until Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM. All graduate and professional students are encouraged to cast their ballots and help decide the future representatives of GPSS at WVU (Vote here: https://forms.gle/oT7NsZwfMAJ8hVPE9 ).

The results are counted as of now, 4:30 PM on April 25, 2025. Total votes cast: 156, marking a massive response so far in the history of GPSS.
